After Strong Start, North Falls to KP, 52-46

North Attleboro fell to King Philip in a tightly contested game at home on Wednesday night, 52-46. The outcome carries significant implications for both teams which are squarely on the bubble for the Massachusetts state playoffs as North entered the game ranked 35th in D2 while KP was ranked 31st in D1. The top 32 teams in each division makes the playoffs.
North stormed out to an early 20-8 lead after one quarter with a swarming defense and a balanced attack that saw six different players score. KP showed its resolve in the 2nd quarter by limiting empty possessions and cutting North’s lead to 27-21 at the half. The teams traded baskets after halftime in an up-tempo 3rd quarter which saw North maintain its lead at 42-37. However, KP ratcheted up the defensive pressure in the final frame outscoring North 15-4 to secure the 52-46 road victory.
Despite the loss, North continues to show improvement and got big contributions from Mary Ellen Charette (12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists), Amelia Leighton (11 points including 3 triples), Sam Sweeney (9 points, 7 boards and 3 assists), Katie Corsetti (7 points and 2 rebounds) and Ava Pratt (5 points and 6 rebounds). North closes out the regular season on Friday night when it hosts Attleboro (10-5 conference / 12-6 overall).
North JV Falls to KP, 35-24

The JV girls lost another close game to King Phillip on Tuesday night. Gracyn Cuzzi put the North girls ahead at halftime 15-11 with a deep three as time expired. The Rocketeers were not able to keep the momentum going in the second half as KP pulled away 35-24. Their last game is Friday at home against Attleboro.
