Sam Sweeney
Sam Sweeney, #21, is a senior guard on the North Attleboro Girls Basketball team. She has been a 4-year member of the Varsity team and was co-captain both her junior and senior year. Sam began playing basketball in the 4th grade for North Attleboro’s Metrowest Red Team which posted a 59-1 record in regular season games over 5 years and won two state titles along the way. During those years (4th-8th grade), Sam also played on a highly competitive AAU team (the Honey Badgers) which was comprised mainly of her North Metro teammates and was a force nationally. The Honey Badgers finished as runners up in the DII AAU National Championship in 6th grade and eventually won the DII AAU National Championship in 8th grade. Playing against elite competition in her youth enabled Sam to contribute right away for NAHS as a freshman. Sam is a well-rounded, team-first player who enjoys making a defensive stop or finding an open teammate for an easy hoop as much as she does hitting a key shot to help her team. Sam’s contributions on the court have been recognized as she was named Hockomock Honorable Mention and named a Top 25 Leading Scorer for the Hockomock Girls Basketball League her sophomore year. In her junior season, Sam was named a Hockomock League All-Star, in addition to being named Offensive Player of the Year for NAHS.
Sam is also a 4-year member of the NAHS Girls Varsity XC team which won the Kelley-Rex Division Title in 2023 after an undefeated season. Outside of athletics, she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Students Across Countries club, is a Red Cross certified lifeguard, and has been working in Child Watch at the North Attleboro YMCA for most of her time in high school.
After NAHS, Sam plans to attend college and major in Business.
