North Falls to Foxboro, 58-34
Friday, February 14, 2025
On Friday night, the North girls fought valiantly against one of the state’s best teams, Foxboro, but fell 58-34. North came out strong once again with swarming defense and some timely baskets. Sam Sweeney posted 8 of her 12 points in the opening frame to help North take a 14-9 lead after one quarter. However, Foxboro’s Addie Ruter took over tallying 8 of the center’s season high 20 points in the second quarter to help Foxboro take a 29-21 lead into the break. North continued to struggle with Foxboro’s interior defense and only scored 13 points in the second half. Despite the struggles on offense, the girls were tenacious on defense and routinely frustrated Foxboro’s attack. North received strong contributions from Jordan Egan (9 points and 3 boards), Bella Houghton (6 points and 4 boards), Gracyn Cuzzi (3 points and 6 rebounds) and Mary Ellen Charette (2 points and 6 boards).
North plays Millis on Monday night in a critical game for the Rocketeers. With a win, North would almost assuredly clinch a spot in the MIAA playoffs. With a loss, the girls will have to wait and see if the power ranking formulas work in their favor and keep them at or above the 32-seed. North was #29 prior to the Foxboro game.
